Match made in heaven

Alexa Miner knew the transition wasn’t going to be easy.

Coming to Trinity Lutheran School from the public school … going into seventh grade … not really knowing anyone … and ….

“I was pretty much an atheist,” Alexa shared. “I was scared and nervous. I didn’t think I would make any friends.”

Things changed—quickly—for the better.

“After a couple of months, the one class I couldn’t wait to go to was religion class with Mrs. Mester,” Alexa shared. “Mrs. Mester made it so easy to understand why I needed God in my life. And, all the lovely Christians at Trinity treated me like family and made me feel welcome.”

In her two years at Trinity, Alexa was baptized, Confirmed and was one of 42 eighth-graders who were recognized on May 29 during a graduation ceremony.

“She was shy at first, but she blossomed so much during her time at Trinity,” shared Kim Mester, who is a Trinity middle school teacher. “It has shown in her faith and in her work and how she chimes in during class—everything she does and says is so well thought out.”

Alexa and Trinity have truly been a match made in heaven.

“Without Trinity, I wouldn’t have faith,” shared Alexa, who will attend Davenport North High School in the fall. “God put me here for a reason. It’s going to be sad to leave, but I feel confident.”

We are: Chosen. Growing. Proclaiming. Crowned.
