Families have been asking for years.
When is Trinity Lutheran getting a high school?
For the longest time, the responses have been superficial.
Now, thanks to a group of dedicated members from Trinity Lutheran and Risen Christ Lutheran who began meeting more than two years ago, there is momentum and traction.
“It’s an opportunity to keep equipping and preparing kids and supporting parents through the high school years,” shared Ian McCloud, who is a member at Risen Christ and is a middle school teacher at Trinity. “Most importantly, it’s an opportunity to continue to ground students in the truth of the Gospel.”
A steering committee, which was created last May, has been working through the Iowa Association of Christian School’s step-by-step module for starting a new school.
“Our group has talked with a handful of different administrators, and they have shared that moving forward with a Lutheran High School is a no-brainer,” shared Mr. McCloud. “We haven’t run into any concerns – through the starter study – to give us any reason not to move forward.”
So, when is Trinity Lutheran getting a high school?
While there is still much work to do, the Lutheran High School Committee has established a target start date of 2028.
“We have a path to follow, with two other locations in the district – Lowden and Cedar Rapids – starting new schools,” shared Mr. McCloud. “We are checking off boxes and in the working phase. It’s exciting to be moving forward.”
